This sort of vile, venom-filled refuse exists in every board. Saying that one side or the other is the ring leader is non beneficial, nor provable. I suggest everyone do what I do, since I'm perfect. lol Discuss your veiws seriously only with those who reciprocate your respect. Ignore any discussion where you feel unappreciated. If you feel a need to correct a misunderstanding or squelch an attack, do so in a reasonable and consistent manner, but never lose your ability to evaluate your own veiws analytically, and don't be afraid to admit whne you don't know something or suspect you're wrong. If everyone honestly tried to do these things, there would be no petty bickering. But alas, no matter how hard we try, nut trees grow in every country. Ignore them. (incidentally, I currently consider myself agnostic but am considering going to a few different churches to get a feel for different religions. I don't hold concretely with any one view.)

Of Late Many Here Seem To Be Preaching Aethiesm..
by Qcmbr inwhen i first came here a while back there was plenty of discussion around and about jw topics and general chit chat but of late i've felt quite a sharp increase in posts that are: .
1/ preaching aethism (as opposed to putting it forward in a respectful way as an alternate viewpoint.
2/ vitriolic attacks on those who dare have another view ('damn those stupid heretical believers') .

Also, that article was by far the most poorly-written I've seen as of late. I wonder if they have editors?

That story sounds a little fishy to me. Profanity? Makes you wonder what else was going on.

Elders, perfect kind men who should be respected.
by free2beme ini know some former witnesses away from the board and when we have talked, we have commented on how we still see people put elders in this category, even after the exit.
once in a discussion with someone who used to be an elder, the person who used to be an elder did something kind of harsh in their comments.
the person in the group stated, "there is no way someone like you would have ever been an elder.

Guys, I have a problem with some of the posts on this thread. I'm saddened by some of the stereotyping I'm seeing. My dad was an elder, and I have the utmost respect for him. Sure he had his problems, that's what being human entails. You'd be hard-pressed to find a more sincere person than him.
But this is beside the point. You can't legitamately take any group of people and say "all of them people are ____, _____, and ____." You know this if you'll disance yourself a bit from your personal experiences. Please don't be so judgmental. I can't think of anything that depresses me more, whether it's within the JW organization or without.

At what age should a person loss their drivers licence?
by free2beme inin my area, in the last year, there has been six people killed in three separate accidents by someone over the age of 70. in two cases, the elderly people lived while the other drivers did not.
in one case the elderly person was killed, as well as the people they hit.
of the six people killed, two were children under the age of five.

I acquired a hardship lisense when I was 14, and never had an accident. I've always been good with equipment, probably becuase I started running tractors when I was 10 years old. Age has nothing to do with one's ability to drive well, maturity and discipline does.

Taking driver's liscenses away from the elderly is a band-aid fix. The real need is for society to take better care of their elders, so they don't have to be so independant. I think everyone should have to take a driving proficiency/recertification test periodically, not just old people.

Jason, is that the famous drawing by Leonardo da Vinci in your avatar? Do you admire him?
